  • Be specific about your words of approval. Don´t just say “good job Mary!” Instead, speak well of her by saying, “Mary, the new procedure you recommended for routing service calls really improved our customer service, and now we have more satisfied customers. Teamwork will only have a lot of “team” with it if there is motivation. You need to overcome the tendency to be focused on individual accomplishments. Think of your group as a team to initialize your teambuilding effort. Before your group realizes their force as a team, you have to be aware of it first. You won´t achieve much success in teambuilding if you are merely focused on rewarding individual endeavors or accomplishments. Teambuilding success is realized if you reward team performance as well. Instill in your group the awareness of them being a team. Then will they perform as one. Let them know that you will reward them as a team, too.
